Program Description
Lumicera Health Services offers a unique experience in specialty pharmacy solutions, framed in the core principles of transparency and stewardship. Students are fully integrated into the workflows of our pharmacy, and provided all the resources to develop clinical and communicative confidence.

Rotation Opportunities
At our rotation site, students are involved in the following activities:
- Performing telephonic patient counseling through detailed specialty medication clinical assessments
- Clarifying prescriptions with providers
- Collaborating with internal and external interprofessional
- health care teams
- Communicating patient disease state/medication concerns with providers
- Collaborating with Pharmacy Residents and Pharmacy Students from other schools
Student Projects
At the end of the rotation, every student will present a project based on their learnings. Some examples of previous student projects, include:
- Clinical Education Presentations on New-to-Market
- Specialty Medications
- Oncology Center of Excellence Quarterly Newsletter
- Evidence-based Cost Savings Initiatives (Dosage form or Therapeutic Interchange)
- Workflow Adaptations for Implementing USP 800 in Specialty Pharmacy
- Oral Chemotherapy Adverse Event Management Support
- Kit for Patients
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Internship Opportunities
At our site, interns are involved in the following activities:
- Attending specialty medication disease state presentations from clinical pharmacists
- Collaborating with internal and external professionals
- Dispensing, preparing, and shipping specialty medications in accordance with hazardous drug and cold-chain protocols
- Assisting operations teams with quality improvement and value-added organizational projects
Intern Projects
At the end of the experience, every intern will share in completing at least one longitudinal project. Some examples of previous projects include:
- Organizing and ordering new patient medication kits with manufacturer partners
- Researching areas of opportunity for growing new business lines
- Creating educational materials and resources on best practice processes and procedures
- Assist clinicians with transitioning groups of patients to new therapies or dosage forms of their medication
- Data collection and analysis for projects and organization key performance indicators
